What is Book-A-Treat? Book-A-Treat by appointment only is indoor Trick or Treating at your public library following social distancing, safety, and health measures. Patrons contact the library and “book” one (1) appointment per household. Each household is then given up to 30 minutes to go trick or treating inside the library. As an added bonus, you can visit the Haunted Library! Book-a-Treat was approved by the Governor’s Covid-19 Task Force.
2021 marks the 2nd year the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library has successfully hosted hosting this fun version of Trick or Treating. Before Book-a-Treat, we would host our Annual Community Trunk or Treat at our library’s parking lot, but because of the Covid-19 pandemic, we decided to change it up by having an alternative with an equal amount of fun. Book-a-Treat is a great way for families to come by and visit your local library and get some Halloween goodies galore! It presents a convenient option for our community to schedule your trick or treating in a controlled, sanitized, and safe environment. During Book-a-Treat, there were contests for Best Halloween Costume, Best Decorated Community Partner Table, and you can even sign up for a free library card and get a free book from your library as a treat!
